Making a difference with walnut
Our client in this project likes to use minimalism to great effect, so the brief was for single and double internal doors that would satisfy this stylistic priority. The overall look had to achieve the same tasteful sense of class that characterises the rest of this beautiful property.
While the client was already sold on the famously premium quality and design innovation of our doors, they were happy to trust our judgement when it came to styles and configurations. We’ve already worked with plenty of clients similarly happy to follow our advice and recommendations, so we brought our usual quiet confidence to this project too.
Beginning with the bathroom, we created a Trem H door in the beautiful walnut finish, with the dark wood and natural grain providing an irresistible blend of depth, richness and interest. This door was deliberately designed to be taller than average, with the extra height lending welcome impact but without being too obvious or imposing. The absence of architrave saves precious space here while adding further to the sense of minimalism.
Elsewhere, we used the same walnut finish to create internal double doors, perfectly cut and aligned to ensure a satisfying continuity in the surface grain. As with the bathroom, that gorgeous walnut grain is both intricate and organic, and adds a priceless uniqueness to each individual door.
On all of these particular doors, clean, neat lines and hidden precision hardware reinforce the sense of contemporary understatement, while the dark wood finish achieves just the right amount of stand-out against each door’s paler neutral surroundings. Simple, modern brushed-steel handles complete the overall look, with a perfectly matching lock on the bathroom door.
A classic Deuren project, this one required us to work from a partial brief but also provide ideas and inspiration of our own. Its success reflects our ability to reconcile design practicalities with aesthetic creativity, always in pursuit of all-round door perfection.
