Separating a entranceway using a statement pivot door

In Ilkley, West Yorkshire, our client wanted an impressive ‘statement’ door to complement the wood panelling and overall aesthetic within their stunning contemporary home.  The door would need to separate the property’s entrance area from the open-plan home behind it, catching the eye and hinting at the bold aesthetics beyond, yet still providing a high-performance solution combining functionality and longevity.

Wood panelling was to be a major feature in this open-plan property, so it was important that we created a door whose design and finish would complement its surrounding interior. While every project is different, answering briefs like this is second nature here at Deuren, where we pride ourselves on having the high levels expertise and creativity to design exactly what clients want. We answered the brief with a stunning oversized ‘pivot’ door, which turns effortlessly on its precision spindle. To create that all-important match with its surrounding wood panelling, we applied a very special ebony macassar finish.  As well as being luxuriously dark and rich, the finish’s grain features a repeated pattern which echos the repeated verticals of the walls around it. The overall effect stops visitors in their tracks. 

Of course, details matter for our clients, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.  The door’s handle is a gorgeous Facet by Philip Watts – simple, sculptural and a sublime tonal match for its context. Meanwhile, hidden hardware is precision engineered using high-end design and materials, ensuring this door will provide maintenance-free service for many years to come.
