Using unwavering attention to detail to create off-piste perfection
Our client in Hampshire had a very clear vision which translated into a particularly specific brief: to create beautiful, contemporary interior doors which would exactly match the look and finish already established in this stunning home.
Our reference point for colour and finish is typically the premium paint brand, Farrow & Ball. This isn’t only because that brand offers a breathtaking range of stunning and compelling colours: it’s also because many of our clients are already familiar with the brand and its products, so using Farrow & Ball as a reference makes perfect sense. Having said this, at Deuren we’re able to colour match literally any colour, so it’s well within our comfort zone to venture off-piste and work with any brand a client specifies. For this particular project, going off-piste actually meant supplying our doors painted in the base colour, but otherwise unfinished.
Working closely with the client, we created a selection of precision-made single-leaf doors along with a beautiful pivot door. Each bespoke product embodied our commitment to the pursuit of perfection, delivered through meticulous design and unwavering attention to detail when it comes to materials and manufacturing. Our creation of ‘shadow gap’ frames for some of the doors is evidence of this meticulous approach, since they need the highest level of precision in order to fit and perform perfectly. Some of the doors feature shadow gaps on only one side, while other doors use conventional architraves.
As mentioned, the client had already selected the finishing paints of his choice, supplied by a company called Paint & Paper. Colours used included Slaite 2, Slaite 3, Stone 2 and Stable Green, all of them carefully applied by our spray department, painted but without the final finish. In another departure from the norm, each door’s handle was also provided by the client. In this case, all handles needed to be lever sprung and feature an 8mm spindle for compatibility with the doors we’d supplied.
Even though we didn’t finish them ourselves, we’ve been lucky enough to see the finished doors in situ, and they’re every bit as unusual and breathtaking as we would have hoped. A great testimony to the benefit of going bespoke.
“Deuren were fantastic to work with right from the off. What really impressed us is the way Ian and his team are 100% open to working collaboratively and being as flexible as it takes to deliver the perfect end product. We couldn’t be happier with our finished doors, which really add to the overall impact of our home’s interior. Brilliant job, Deuren!”
