Developing new and exciting techniques for our internal doors
In Milton Keynes, our client with a stunning new-build home wanted a total of 17 internal doors, including some which would require us to develop exciting new manufacturing techniques for the very first time.
Not only did 7 of the 17 new doors need to be fire doors rated to FD30, we were also tasked with designing and crafting a range of door styles. Even within the well-established styles, our client wanted us to produce pioneering finishes, including using brass, a material we’d not worked with before.
Always eager to accept a new door challenge with confidence and excitement, this project’s complex brief was music to our ears. One of the areas where we really excel is in our ability to draw on our unparalleled experience in bespoke door-making. It enables us to take on unusual briefs other manufactures aren’t.
For this project, we designed, crafted and installed a mix of 14 Vario 2 single doors; two Trem v glass doors; stunning fully glass double Vetro doors with a built-in lighting surround; and a breathtaking floor-to-ceiling pocket door with a cleverly concealed frame. While the refreshingly varied styles, sizing and configurations of this brief kept us on our design toes, it was the finishing of the doors that really made this project special.
The 14 Vario’s in smoked eucalyptus each feature a slender brass inlay, elevating an already impressive looking door to new heights of luxury customisation. Subtle yet unmissable, the inlay makes a beautiful finishing touch, pairing brilliantly with the rich darkness of the smoked eucalyptus. The attention to detail and precision finishing is Deuren through and through, while the overall effect is one of tasteful refinement and reassuring gravitas.
This project was a joy to work on, partly thanks to the genuine wow factor of the finished home. More than that, though, we expanded our creative capabilities and perfected new skills in the process of completing the job. The fact that inlaid doors have since become one of our most sought-after products is proof of the project’s success, along, of course, with a delighted and grateful client.
“Finding the right manufacturer was really important, partly because with so many doors needed, a lot was at stake. Equally importantly, we wanted a firm that would really work with us to deliver our dream, because we knew that what we wanted was out of the ordinary. Long story short, Ian and his team blew us away with their dedication to the project, and their amazing finished products reflect that dedication.”
