Garage doors with a difference
Working closely with the client, we created a matching pair of beautiful bespoke doors from oak, creating visual interest using a vertical ‘strip’ pattern broken up by four horizontal edge-to-edge grooves. This is the kind of work we perform day in, day out, so it didn’t present an excessive challenge for our experienced team.
These two doors were both overhead sliding units, so we needed to pay close attention to the inevitable overlap created when both doors are opened simultaneously. Intelligent planning was required, along with a level of accuracy and care that’s always been a hallmark of our work, both indoors and out.
The end result was just what we expected and exactly what the client had wished for: beautiful matching doors that slide smoothly and reliably into their overhead positions without issue, despite the overlap caused by the different angles of their respective aspects. The finish is perfect too, since we used this project as an opportunity to refine our oak staining and matching process.
In fact, this project went so smoothly that it’s inspired us to actively invite and embrace more work on rounded buildings. We’re even developing ways to design and build curved doors themselves: all part of our commitment the innovation with which Deuren is now synonymous.
“We love the fact that Deuren weren’t intimidated by our brief, and instead rose to the challenge of making doors for a structure other’s might have been nervous about. The finished doors don’t just look amazing, they work like a dream too, and we never have to worry about the risk of causing damage by opening them both at the same time.”
