Transforming rural charm with Deuren’s modern front door

Local weather conditions and environmental factors can really take their toll on external doors, swelling, shrinking and warping their materials and compromising their performance as well as their appearance. Here, our client wanted a modern, robust and long-lasting front door which would also work flawlessly and retain its good looks.  The door also needed to complement the charismatic old-world character of this period stone property.

While every door we produce has to satisfy the aesthetic tastes and preferences of the client, we’re also equally determined to only ever craft doors that perform flawlessly and stand the test of time.  Part of that commitment means factoring in the effects of weather, be that excessive cold, heat or rain, or the less obvious impacts of wind, damp and sunlight.

For this reason, Deuren front doors use oak-engineered timber frames with double rebated and double-sealed edges, while their cores comprise layered timber and PU hard foam insulation for excellent thermal efficiency.  In other words, they’re perfectly engineered for the wilder and more exposed areas of beautiful rural Yorkshire – or any other part of the world.

For this particular project we used a striking Tavole door with its eye-catching but tasteful irregularly lined surface design.  The finish is Honey Oak, with warm and welcoming golden hues together working wonders with the surrounding vernacular stonework.  Meanwhile, a sculptural satin brass LittleJohn handle from Philip Watts provides a stunning finishing touch, still in keeping with the overall aesthetic yet bound to catch the eye.  Ultimately, the end result is a door whose looks and physical structure will age equally well, whatever the Yorkshire weather throws at it.
