Embarking on a self-build project? If so, this won’t be a decision you’ve taken lightly. In fact, it’s likely to be the biggest investment of your lifetime, and it can feel daunting. Luckily, 2024 is packed full of self-build and design shows up and down the UK - from Glasgow to Kent and everything in between - offering advice, inspiration, and supplier contacts. 

Here, we share our cherry-picked selection of the best self-build home shows and highlight which we’ll be attending. Grab a cup of tea and your calendar and get planning.

The National Self-Build & Renovation Show

Looking for a nearby self-build show in Swindon? You’re in luck - the first event on our list is The National Self-Build & Renovation Show, from 26th-28th January. With access to a range of seminars, Q&A sessions, live demos, free one-to-one expert consultations, and more than 200 exhibitors showcasing the latest building products and services, this is an unmissable event for anyone self-building their dream bespoke home.

Build It Live

Featuring live seminars, free one-on-one expert advice, specialist workshops and more, Build It Live is ideal for prospective self-builders and renovators. Taking place on 24th-25th February at Kent Event Centre 8th-9th June in Oxfordshire, and 7th-8th September in Exeter, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with hundreds of manufacturers, suppliers, homebuilding companies and tradespeople to help realise their perfect home project.

Scottish Self-Build & Renovation

If you’re looking for a self-build show in Scotland, you’re in luck. Scottish Self-Build & Renovation will be taking place at Thainstone Exchange, Inverurie on 23rd March. With free entry, this self-build home show will be running a series of seminars throughout the day. Topics will range from converting heritage projects, energy-efficient heating, and cooling systems, and integrating smart technology into your home.

Homebuilding & Renovating Show

Boasting seminars, masterclasses, an advice centre, and 400 exhibitors, the Homebuilding & Renovating Show is a cornerstone of any self-builder’s schedule. The show will be exhibiting at seven locations, three of which Deuren will be attending - NEC Birmingham (21st – 24th March), ExCel London (27th -29thSeptember), and the Harrogate self-build show (3rd-5th November) - so be sure to come visit us to discuss made-to-measure and bespoke doors for your home. As each event approaches, Deuren can allocate up to two free tickets for each of our contacts - so check our Instagram page and email newsletter to secure your own.

Other dates include; Farnborough (13th – 14th January), Glasgow (11th – 12th May), Surrey (29th – 30th June), and Somerset (16th – 17th November).

Grand Designs Live

One of the best-known self-build show London events, Grand Designs Live will be at ExCel London, 4th – 12th May. For those based outside of London, it’ll also be exhibiting at NEC Birmingham between the 2nd - 6th October. Grand Designs Live features the latest ideas, innovation, and home project guidance to help attendees discover bespoke, made-to-measure solutions. Visitors can find an array of exhibitors, experts, and live talks across four unique project zones: build, kitchens and bathrooms, gardens, and interiors. New for Grand Designs Live, ExCeL, is The House of Grand Ideas – designed to educate, inspire, and wow visitors, showcasing ways to decarbonise your home without compromising on cutting-edge luxury.

Selfbuild Extend & Renovate Live

Based in Ireland? Selfbuild, Extend and Renovate Live exhibits between 13th – 14th January in Limerick, where you can discuss your project with experts in a one-to-one setting, attend Theatre Talks and access interactive stands that inspire and engage, revealing many self-build options and solutions available to you.
